Kenya has reported at least ten cases of miners being killed after walls in the shafts they worked in caved in.

The government has also ensured mining companies have permits to work and their personnel have the required equipment.

All these have, however, never prevented tragic accidents from happening while the miners are working; hence most have maintained their belief in prayer as the ultimate guardian.

Miners Praying Before Working

A video has since emerged online of a group of miners praying in Swahili before embarking on their daily routine.

In what looks like a ritual, the miners stop working, and one of them leads them in a heartfelt prayer as they seek God's protection.

During his supplication, the man pours out their desires coupled with a commitment to act on the divine guidance they receive.

He further confesses his belief in God, stating that he was sure that they would have a good day filled with blessings.

The man finished his prayer before the whole group answered uniformly and took their tools to start digging.

Father, teen son die after mine collapses, burying them alive

In a tragic ending to a mining expedition, a family from Rubanda District in western Uganda was left in tears after a sand mine claimed the lives of a 50-year-old man and his 16-year-old son.

Daily Monitor reported that John Bosco Rwabyoma and his son Andrew Magara, a high school student, had been using the mine to eke a living.

According to officials, Boyi Ayebare was lucky to survive the incident, but he was left with fractures in his limbs and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Gomborora Internal Security Officer (GISO) for Bubare town council, Bernard Rwabugwene, confirmed the incident, blaming the tragedy on a heavy downpour that lasted about one hour.

“My father and my brother left home early in the morning for sand mining, and as we were waiting for them to return for lunch, we got the sad news that they were killed in the mine," said Peter Ahereza.
