Nigerian international act Burna Boy is set to headline the grand opening of the Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, also known as Nakivubo Stadium, which is a multi-purpose stadium in Kampala, Uganda.
While there are no details on when the event would take place, a report via Baboon Forest Entertainment revealed that the Nigerian singer charges around Ugx2 to 3billion to perform at international events as of 2023.
This makes Burna Boy one of the most expensive artists in Africa.
Uganda reports say that the Nakivubo Stadium management team feels Burna Boy is the perfect artiste to headline the grand opening.
40-year-old Ugandan billionaire Hamis Kiggundu renovated the stadium into an ultra-modern facility. Hamis owns the Ham Group of Companies dealing in real estate and processing, among other ventures.
News of how much Burna would be paid caused a buzz online, with many Ugandans saying the price was too steep.
Others opined that the money was enough to build another stadium and suggested that another artiste should perform at the launch.
katompanga30:
"Why don’t Kenzo, David Lutalo, Skin and Sheebah do this grand Nakivubo thing? They can sing as well as perform, no?"
AmjadSsessanga:
"So Hamis wants to collect money from Ugandans to launch a stadium that they built indirectly."
atwine_ronnie:
"But we have legends like Chameleon, Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine who can headline this and then international artistes can be invited guests!"
Iam_Ambros:
"They should've used our own artistes."
SirJumaKent:
"This amount can construct another stadium. Bring Diamond iPlatnumz instead."

This is too much for a single singer better to use Ugandan Artistes at cheaper costs and the balance to take care of Ugandan vulnerables
