A 23-year-old woman has been apprehended on allegations of poisoning and causing the death of Godwin Kansiime, the director of Victoria Secondary School in Nansana, Wakiso District. The incident is said to have occurred after they met in a bar.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Mr. Luke Owoyesigyire, announced the arrest and stated that the suspect is facing charges related to the murder of Kansiime.

According to Mr. Owoyesigyire, Kansiime’s lifeless body was discovered in Nansomba Village, Masulita Sub-county in Wakiso District, and a post-mortem examination confirmed that he died due to poisoning.

The investigation traced Kansiime’s movements from the bar to the Nansana Inn Guest House, where he was seen on CCTV footage with the suspect at 6:15 am on September 2. The pair had checked into a room at the guest house and spent the night there.

When interviewed, the guest house operators and security guard confirmed that Kansiime and the suspect were guests that day.

They reported that, later in the day, the room where Kansiime had stayed was found locked, and attempts to contact him were unsuccessful. Subsequently, they forcibly entered the room and discovered Kansiime’s lifeless body. The body was subsequently moved and disposed of in Masulita.

As part of the investigation, it was found that Kansiime’s wife had sent him money via mobile money, which was then transferred to a suspicious number around the time the body was found. This led the police to identify the suspect and arrest her on Salaama Road.

During questioning, the suspect allegedly confessed to putting a tablet in Kansiime’s drink while they were at the bar in Nansana. She claimed that her intention was to make him intoxicated but was unaware that it would have fatal consequences.

It was also revealed that she had conspired with three other individuals in carrying out this act. Two of these individuals have also been apprehended and are currently in custody at Nansana Police Station, facing similar charges.
