Sad: Police Officer Shoots Wife, Turns Gun On Self After Domestic Quarrel

By Our Reporter

In the recent past, concern has grown in Kenya over the alarming rise in cases of people taking their own lives.

Mental ill-health and ‘warped’ notions of masculinity for instance are among the reasons mooted for the rise of such cases.

The latest such incident occurred in Siaya county and was reported at the Bondo Police station.

A police report seen by TUKO.co.ke showed that today, Friday, July 7, 2023, at about 8:35am, police corporal Michael Kyalo no 124541 who was deployed for the day's court orderly duties and issued with a rifle s/no AK 5524195 shot his wife identified as Brenda Kangai Kimanzi on the left thigh and turned the rifle on himself.

"The entry point of the impact was through the chin and exited on top of his head," the police statement reads in part.

It is reported that the subject returned to the house and picked a quarrel with the wife which regrettably ended in his shooting of the wife and himself.

"The officer died on the spot. The scene was visited by senior officers led by the SCPC Bondo and the wife with visible injuries rushed to Bondo sub-county hospital in a serious condition," the police report further reads.

In a related story, TUKO.co.ke previously reported that the law enforcement officer who fatally wounded his colleague at the Kimala Police Post in Taita Taveta county died.

Felix Kipkosgei pulled the trigger against himself after shooting his colleague four times on Thursday, June 29.

The motive behind the killing was not yet established. The supposed killer cop was then rushed to the Taita Taveta Sub-County Hospital where he succumbed to the gunshot injuries.

Kipkosgei's body was moved to the hospital's morgue awaiting postmortem.
